What's New At Hunter Nissan

Bearcats gearing up to complete an undefeated season!

Hendersonville High School's Bearcats are revving up to bring back the glory days of 78 and 80, as remembered by Hunter Nissan's own Kevin Young.

PRLog (Press Release)Feb 15, 2012 -
Hunter Nissan has deep roots in the Hendersonville community. Our own Internet Sales Manager, Kevin Young, was a talented basketball star during the late 70s while playing with the HHS Bearcats. He recently reminisced with local journalist Dean Hensley of the Blue Ridge Times, reflecting on his own nearly undefeated (29-1) season in 1978. This year's team is bringing back the glory of those standout years, standing strong at 20-0 and gunning to become the third Bearcat squad since 78 to finish their regular season standings undefeated.

Young's own team had to go up against a team whose star player Dominique Wilkins ended up becoming one of the most infamous and greatest dunkers in NBA history as a player for the Atlanta Hawks. Wilkins' nickname? "Human Highlight Film." Young remembers his team's opponents, Washington, as a confident, imposing group that left the Bearcats feeling intimidated as they prepared to play.

Kevin Young's memories of coach Jim Pardue and the legacy Pardue left behind can be read at the Blue Ridge Times website: http://preps.blueridgenow.com/news/article/30492/memorie ...

Hunter Nissan is proud to cheer on our Bearcats as they play forth into a successful season.

"Innovation for Fun" Leads Design of World's First AWD Crossover Convertible

? Bold Expression of Nissan's Commitment to Design and Innovation Goes On Sale in Early 2011, Offered in One Luxurious All-Wheel Drive Model ?

As the world's first all-wheel drive crossover convertible, the 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet breaks new ground in both the crossover SUV and convertible segments. With its never seen before design and custom boutique style, the Murano CrossCabriolet is unlike anything on the road ? blending all of the things people love in a crossover with the open air enjoyment of a convertible. The Murano CrossCabriolet is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in spring 2011.

"When people think of a crossover, they think of a combination of the driving sophistication of a sedan with the utility of a sport utility. This new Murano CrossCabriolet adds an unexpected third element, the ability to make everyday activities more exciting with open air driving," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "However, with its extraordinarily engineered convertible top, standard all-wheel drive and room for four adults plus cargo, the CrossCabriolet is not just for cruising South Beach or Malibu. Nissan Ellure debuts at Los Angeles Auto Show!

The ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show displayed several concepts that we hope will materialize in the near future. The next to jump on the bandwagon is Nissan with its Ellure concept. This concept sedan lies in between the Nissan Altima and Maxima in terms of size. The futuristic styling of the Ellure concept hints at the styling direction of the company?s future sedans, with an aim of bringing women back to them.

The concept shows off the first in-house hybrid system while the setup installed in the Ellure is a version of the arrangement which will be utilized in Infiniti M35h. Its Pure Drive hybrid system utilizes two clutches. One clutch is located between the engine and electric motor while the other is seated between transmission and driveline. Its supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivers 240 hp and 258 lb-ft.

This Nissan Ellure concept also boasts of spacious interiors - passengers can reap the benefits of a pop-out footrest while the panoramic glass roof is split by a V-shaped trim piece for mood lighting. Also included are clear acrylic bits in the grille, 21-inch wheels, an under-tray for airflow, wide display panel screens, intuitive touch interfaces, recessed lighting, floating headrests and lots more.

Nissan also plans to go green by utilizing recycled materials across the cabin such as eco-suede for seats. Meanwhile, the edge-cut wool carpet is said to be water-resistant. While we dont expect to see the Nissan Ellure in production form in the near future, we do expect to see the technology and features used in this concept to be put in use within a couple of years in other Nissan vehicles targeted at both men and women.

Roy Mayne's Hunter Automotive sponsored NASCAR Impala from 1965-1967 season finds a new life through vintage racer Shaun Coleman

Sports and vintage racer Shaun Coleman recently contacted Hunter Auto Group with some truly remarkable news about a restoration he recently completed on a 1965 Chevy Impala SS sponsored in the 1965-67 NASCAR season by Hunter Automotive. Once manned by the late Roy Mayne and barn stored since 1967, the car was unearthed after Shaun came in contact with Wayne Smith of Royston, GA last year.

Shaun's gorgeous restoration of the Impala stays true to the original paint and sponsorship logos - even down to the "Hunter Chevrolet Co" painted on the driver side rear fender! No detail was spared, and the Impala shows it in every photo and video on Shaun's website. Believed to be long gone, this was a wonderful surprise to Hunter Auto and a treat to see such a great Chevy fully restored and roaring down the tracks once more.

The
Nascar Impala website  Shaun runs details the car's legendary transformation from show room display model to NASCAR racer as overseen by Tom Hunter (Grandfather of our own Tom and Randy Hunter) and Roy Mayne. This is a great piece of NASCAR history, bringing back the nostalgia of the days when smaller homegrown teams could show up and compete with the big money teams on the same tracks.

Many thanks to Shaun for sharing this piece of racing and Hunter Auto history with us - check out the
website  and take a trip down memory lane with Hunter Automotive Group!
